SC EP:102 Very close encounter with a Sasquatch

My guest tonight is “MT” from Washington State. He was a school teacher for many years and always worked for the state wildlife services before he was fired for coming forward with his encounter. He says, “I made the mistake of telling some of my co-workers about my encounter, I was fired afterwards without any reason and was blackballed from the industry…”

MT goes on to explain what he saw… “When I had my close up sighting of the bigfoot that was over 11 feet tall up near Mt. Rainier National Park, just west of Ashford, Washington, you could see the muscles bulging beneath the short fur covering as the creature reached up to move the branch from in front of its face as it walked into the woods… also, that the creature was truly of gigantic stature. If you saw the movie Prometheus with the gigantic humanoid aliens, my Bigfoot was about the same build. It was nothing but muscle and hair.

I tell people that it resembled a silver back gorilla crossed with an Olympic athlete (summer track events), crossed with a giant. It looked like a tall person crossing the road… and the arms were not down almost to the knees like a lot of people say… it had the perfect human proportions a tall athletic man… except for the huge hump of muscles across the shoulders behind the head, and that the ear seemed to be in the wrong location on the side of the head for a human and looked more like where it would be on a big silver back gorilla.”

If you have had an encounter and would like to be on the show, send me an email at wes@sasquatchchronicles.com.

I miss Shannon too, but not Will…. He was not the man I thought he was. He ran away and left Wes for no damn good reason! REAL friends don’t run when shit goes sideways a bit.

      • Shannon D

I don’t know about Shannon either. I think she hightailed it, following Will’s example. If your gonna post on the internet, you have to have a thick skin. I don’t agree with what people said about her and some were downright mean but she’s moved to another forum which says to me she didn’t want any part of the crap Wes was being dragged through.

      • Richard C

I was also disappointed in Will’s actions. Shannon I understand, but Will, well he should have at least confronted Wes and given Wes a chance to respond, instead he jumped ship. At the pace he’s going, I just don’t want Wes to Burn out! 🙂

      • Jay Carlsen

well, really nobody really knows what happened . There wasn’t an episode I missed ? I thought everyone had an idea . but No One has said for certain the reason of the other hosts left the show . Nobody’s knows for certain , And it is to easy to jump too conclusions here . ( Always has been for Me anyhow , So Now I try not to be so Hasty )
If the Reason was meant for us – I am sure they would do an Episode on it .
Going to the Chief’s Cabin had to be Fascinating . I have always enjoyed Native American Folk Lore ! Here in Northern Michigan in 3rd Grade , They took us to Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes . 3 Massive Dunes right on the West Coast of Michigan , Overlooking Lake Michigan . Just a year before We had moved to this new school, I really didn’t have to many kids to Hang out with . But I was STOKED being there anyhow .
When the Chaperones began rounding kids up to leave , I was Keen on it . So I was at the Top , & was trying to Be Sneaky . I was caught , & being corralled back down to the Bus . When my eye caught a Track Way ! The Foot prints where Huge ! ( when we moved up from Detroit , Our Neighbors who lived in the Up Stairs apartment had cast a Plaster Print . That I got to hold – if I sat on the Couch ( I was only 7 years old ) I ‘ Marked ‘ the size of the Prints in the Sand . & the Gigantic Strides that was between them.
I was Stopped in my Tracks , Following this women to the Bus , Starring at this Trackway . The distance between footprints were Amazing ! 25 – 30 Feet between Strides ! Running diagonally across the front of the Dunes , heading towards the Woods . Almost as if it was running for Cover that Morning when the Park opened ?
The Chaperone turned & seen me Staring . And said ” C’mon Mr. Carlsen , everyone is waiting , C’mon!” So I Left . & went to the Bus .
These dunes are Massive , but People climb them from the Front . & the Track way is pretty defined , From People . We all climb the Dunes – straight up the Face. What ever made this Track way – Was not using that Route . It went straight to the Woods . & the Foot prints where HUGE .
Makes me wonder if they are Still Up Here ?

        • Logan E

Jay, the reasons are out there, posted on sites like reddit. If you want to know the details, you can find them but I don’t really see the point. The reason they left was dumb, and jumping ship without even trying to have your “friend” and host’s back speaks volumes more about character than the disagreement over Wes’s story in the first place.

I am fine with just Wes, keeps it more focused on the stories and people involved. Less voices cluttering up the air.

          • Jay Carlsen

Thank you , I never paid to much attention to the criticism about anyone’s encounter. I Believed it , only by the sound of their Voice in the re-telling. I had no doubts of my own with it & seen no benefit to anyone’s opinion against it. I have already concluded for myself it was a True Account . But Thank You for the Info !
I still enjoy the show , As it is promoted ……..” A Place where People can share their Encounters ” . For as long as that is ( & I hope a long while ) I will still be a paying member . ( Only because it would be Torture to think I missed something of the Story . I can not get enough .)

          • Mikel F

            Haha! It’s “Mr. Black!”

That stuff was always really hard for me to swallow. I really liked Will at first… but he really seemed burnt out toward the end anyway… listen to his final “Into the Abyss” episode… he was horrible. Long awkward pauses and was borderline rude. It’s a shame, but I like the show better now anyway. I’d like to see Derek Randles co-host every once in a while or something. That guy is a real dude, and shoots very straight.

        • Logan E

No Michael, I don’t know Will personally so unfortunately all I have to judge him by are his actions as seen by the public. Which, needless to say, has left a rather bad taste in my and mostly everyone else here’s mouth.

  1. Gabriel H

Yes the fit hitting the shan was sad. I also contend however that Wes, just fits. I personally find it very meaningful, the way we now hear him having the space to engage people in true conversation, and in his conversation style. Thirdly. JEBUZ….! 11plus feet! What a freakin conundrum that there are ELEVEN+ feet tall monsters in the woods, THAT WE CANT FIND. What an amazing creature. Terrifyingly Beautiful.

  2. toomuch

    Can’t wait to listen tonight!
I have a huge bigfoot crossing sign hanging up in my classroom. After all of the ridiculous state tests are finished and the kids are burned out, I teach about the top ten mysteries of the world with a focus on sasquatch. The students then get to research their own topic and discuss it with the entire class. They love it!!!

  3. Tyler D

I think Wes is doing a bang up job by himself. He’s takin the show to another level. Jeffrey, Shannon n Will left on their own. I honestly don’t really care anymore. I think Wes is gettin it handled by his self n honestly I like Sasquatch Chronicles even more now than I ever did before. Thanks Wes for not giving up on any of us. SC FOR LIFE! ☺

  4. mark s

Cool epoisode, great job MT & Wes, MT sorry about what happened with your job, just another injustice, you will get back to what you like to do, hang in.

  5. Travis L

Wes is doing an outstanding job, however, I would love to see Woody come back on at least a part-time basis. Wes and Woody together are hilarious and always make for a great show. Keep it up Wes!

  6. Robert V

Emt, in my opionion was one of the best guests on the show. I like what he said about the professional community and their reluctance to take this subject serious.

Wes I love what your doing with the show. I admire your patience and courage to keep the show going.

Hey Shannon, I know people hurt you. They shouldn’t have done so and they were wrong to do so. But how are you doing? Miss you on the show and your program on Monday.

    Bob

    • Carol S

      Bob
She seems to be doing fine posting on THEIR website! Yup, the same people who were trashing her. Go figure….(not cool at all). Life is funny.

  7. Christopher c

MT! me and you have a bit in common,I too was in F.F.A and horticulture,my vegetable would win ribbons every year at the County Fair and now Sanctuary Soil Company wants to hire my growing skills on California’s largest legal medical marijuana grow 50 acres 800 plants LOL! I may take the job now that I may be getting off the pain pills with a plant called Kratom ,I also was a conservationist who did Salmon Restoration, and have Sasquatch of course ingrained in my soul from my encounter,my encounter caused me to have to pray-I didn’t forget how even though I hadn’t been to church in 8 yrs.,anyway that was a great share thank you ,and thank you Wes for airing this report keep it rollin Bro!

    • K T

The Dude has YET to take a breath. He sounds like my seven year old!!
He’s so paranoid that Wes is going to interrupt him. MT is the real life personification of the fella in the first Ghost Busters movie: Dana’s neighbor across the hall.

      GAWD.

I have no doubt that he’s one of the nicest people you’d ever meet. No doubt that he’d be an asset to anyone that hired him.

But——Don’t suffocate getting your own views across. WE’RE A WILLING, CAPTIVE AUDIENCE. THE HARD PART’S DONE!

  8. jean paul

good job wes…it has got to be a monumental task just trying to find people that are willing to share experiences…If this show has helped one person come to grips with what they saw or encountered ( and i know it has ) then you my friend have performed the greatest of service…
I got your back on this end…

  9. Esther P

You’ve got a knack for what works on this subject of Sasquatch. Thanks to you Wes for your hard work…And thanks to those who support you behind the scenes, the hosts, and the members of SC. My support is with all of you.

  10. Esther P

Correction on my post: I meant to say ‘Guests’ NOT ‘Hosts’ … Wes is the host of this show and its the Guests that he interviews… And I support all at SC… Geez, I am having a difficult time seeing this small print no thanks to my poor eyesight.. Sorry!

  11. Debbie C

    Hello Wes,
I hope one day soon you and Mo will have a televised documentary
    about your sightings.
I agree with you about televising Sasquatch evidence that will
change/correct information these odd Bigfoot TV shows are trying to educate us
    Sasquatch enthusiast.
Thanks for all your great Sasquatch Chronicles shows!
Thank you to all your guests!

  12. Christopher c

MT,that is soo very dirty to get fired at a dream job for the mentioning of Sasquatch, I think with your previous background in agriculture you could really sell yourself and capitalize since AG. is making a major comeback in the state of Wa. something to consider.

  13. Dovie D

Our youngest daughter and her family love camping and every time I bring up Sasquatch and to be careful she laughs at me. I know they are real founds tracks myself years ago. I pray I never see one. Me and my husband enjoy listening. We look forward to it!!!

  14. Phyllis E

Awesome as usual Wes!! I miss Woody and Shannon but you are doing a smash up job by yourself!! I go to sleep listening each night. Can’t sleep without a listen. Take care and have fun in TX!!

  15. Lori J

Another Great Show! So glad to hear you are heading back down to Texas…I really miss Bob Garretts videos and podcasts…but I get to still hear about him thanks to you..Thank You for making my Sunday Nights something to look forward to and can’t wait to see what you do with a tv program!

  16. Brett S

Such a great show I gotta figure out how to re subscribe for another six months I think my times getting close to expiring. I look forward to every episode and constantly re listen to older shows. Wes thanks for such a well produced show. I suffer from insomnia and have a lot of anxiety but this show can get me through the worst of it thank you so much. Everyone laughs at my fascination with the subject but your guests are so sincere. Wish I could pay you back Wes for all your dedication

  17. William C

So I’m a paying subscriber & I enjoy . However as a non boot licking type like everyone else that comments , the last 5 shows have been honestly less than subpar.
The guests are obviously honest about what they have experienced & believe what they are saying & I respect that the guests are credible , however the experiences are at the quality that I actually feel for the host that has to post them .

    • Kay S

      William, I don’t think you’re being fair.
Not everyone who comments here is a ‘boot licker’ as you call it. Many of us appreciate the effort Wes has put in quietly, so to speak. Those who wish to compliment Wes on the job he’s doing should be free to do so without being labelled.
The guests are great, and as you say, credible and truthfull. This is a site for sharing encounters, not all of them can be edge of the seat terrifying. I personally haven’t found any of the shows ‘subpar’, some are admittedly more exciting than others, but that’s the nature of the show.

    • Carl M

The rest of us are boot lickers because we disagree with you. You stuck up egotistical jerk. Voice your opinions without insulting the rest of us, man child!

  18. Dovie D

I don’t watch the other TV shows anymore. I must admit I did for awhile but then realized how stupid they were. Now they irritate me because one makes it look like its a game and the other one, Mountain Monsters well it’s just down right stupid. They both seem to insinuate we have little to no intelligence. I can’t wait for killing bigfoot or some other intelligent TV show. I think people do need to know about these things to protect themselves and their children.

  19. Joni

As always Great Show Wes ! I’m just like MT ,I listen right before bed . It`s relaxing had that tropical storm here in SC which made mother’s day dark & gloomy but because of your show it ended Great !
Keep up the Fantastic work and I can’t wait to hear about your trip to Texas!

  20. Chad W

I recently started new job and when the person interviewing me asked me my availability I said I couldn’t work Sundays. My answer was based mainly in part to this podcast. Now, I know that the podcast is posted and I can listen to it anytime I damn well please but I just can’t wait to listen. I usually turn out the lights, put on my headphones, and lay down in bed with my eyes closed and imagine the scenes being described by the guests.
I spend a lot of time hiking the Appalachian Trail in PA and know that there have been many sightings in that area and often speak of Sasquatch with the people I hike with. They all think I’m crazy for believing that such a creature exists without ever seeing one firsthand and that’s fine with me. I think I’d rather be thought a fool than encounter one and remove all doubt. LOVE THIS SHOW!!!

  21. JAMES B

Wes, you ever find yourself feeling a bit burnt out or over extended, hit me up. I’d be happy to help in any form. The internet makes distance irrelevant so keep my offer in mind. I have a great voice presence and am great listening. Bartendd for over 20 years…
And I’m sure there are many on here who would offer their services as well.
Great job your doing! And very much appreciated.
    Jim

I can remember ( I think in the 80’s) there were a lot of bigfoot tracks by a boat launch on the Chehalis river that was investigated by a sheriff named Dennis Herford! He investigated quit a few incidences. I think one involved a minister/Pastor in Porter. Porter is a very small town in WA. The MT story about the boat launch happened around that time it sounds like, and could of been the same boat launch.

    • Mark T

      Ahhh, David R,

Good ol’ Porter creekers (pronounced “crick- ‘ers”).

The kids at Oakville high school mostly lived in rural farm, forest, and reservation land surrounding the small town of Oakville (on both sides of the Chehalis River in Grays Harbor county).

Instead of telling you what road or street they lived on, the kids referred to themselves according to which creek they lived, so you instantly knew where they lived and could find their house.

There were Porter Creekers, Johnson Creekers, so I guess I was a Cedar Creeker as I lived at the end of Cedar creek road.

Capital forest came down to the edge of the cattle pasture behind my house. Cedar creek actually flowed less than 50 feet from my front yard. I actually saw a full grown river otter run across my driveway and plunge down the slope into the creek. And my landlord told my ex-wife and I not to leave our infant daughter on her baby blanket on the front lawn as they had seen a cougar walking down our gravel drive way…

Oakville, WA… Bigfoot’s back yard and just a few miles down Hwy 12 from Porter on the drive to Montesano.

Thanks for bringing a smile to my face through old memories, David. 😉

  23. Gail d

Really envious of you going back to Texas To be with those great guys. I would give anything to be out there with all of you. I hope your idea for a serious show is a big hit!!

  24. Pamela C

Hey fellow SC members I feel as if I have missed something here with all the talk about Shannon and Will no longer on the show. I joined about two months ago and have been catching up listening to older espisodes. I did hear the session with Wes and his brother Woody and the nonsense about him “making money” off of this show becuase he owned a Hummer. Silly stuff in my opinion and it is not really any of my business what type of vehicle he drives. I guess if I had the experience he and his brother had I might want to buy a tank to drive up there. Anyway what is up with this stuff regarding Will and Shannon leaving the show becuase they doubt what Wes is telling folks?
    Thanks for any insight.

  25. Kim

Ive got news for you folks (if its not known yet) Shannon has her own show and web site. Just saw it today. It looks like it covers all paranormal stuff. Its called “Into the Fray”. I signed up, it may be interesting! But I dont go into alot of other paranomal stuff, my favorite is SASQUATCH!

  26. Jay Carlsen

Isn’t it Funny , that the President who had a Tail of Encounters with these Creatures , Was the same president that set up the National Park system ? Theodore Roosevelt . The Avid Outdoors man that he was . Isn’t That Crazy ?

    • Lara L

Jay, Thank you for finding this connection – I brought this up when Will was still on the show. Sent an email to Wes, Will, and Shannon on this topic and and never got a response. I just figured they thought I was crazy, but makes sense to me- they gave them their space. However I also asked how best to tell my story as I had a1 dog man siting and 2 + encounters with what I thought was 1 or more Bigfoot…. Being that it was a very long story and I was so emotional about these things being real I wanted to know how to best tell it. This was maybe 9 months ago now. (I have just never posted before) Wes if you read this can you help me out here on whether you want it written out or if you would call? I’m now moving WA in 2 weeks…and I have to say I am disturbed or concerned and trying not to be worried or freaked out. But I know they are there. They are everywhere.????

  27. jeffrey n

I never meant any disrespect to wes he is and has always done a great job.
I have been onboard since episode 2 and simply stated my feelings
Wes keep up the good work .

  28. r v

Wes, I know you’re sayin’ you’re gonna be down in the Dallas area but don’t worry – I’m sure seeing Bob again will cheer you up.

  29. jason b

I enjoy the show but these guys from Texas have got to be full of shit. They have had how many encounters and have yet to get any definitive proof. Also, why would you be afraid to see a creature that you supposedly see all the time? I believe in sasquatch but i don’t believe these Texas bullshitters. It seems like they’re trying to become the main authority on all things squatch to corner the market to make money by taking people into the woods to have a sighting. Actually, they are already doing this so maybe i just exposed their plan. And why do these guys continue to try and use infrared cameras when they tell everyone that squatch can see infrared beams?

  30. Janice P

Seems like MT could make a case for being fired for his beliefs. BF is sacred to certain cultures and MT, not disingenuously, thinks he may have been preselected for his encounters. How do I know this? I heard it here first, of course! For inspiration take a gander at the legit church of the flying spaghetti monster.
So, MT, put a steeple over it where it belongs and grab a lawyer who has also seen the light…colored hair ( or fur ).

    • Barbara W

Unfortunately, Washington is an “at will” employment state, meaning that they don’t need a reason to fire you – they can do so at will. I found that out when I was fired from my housekeeping job on a certain billionaire’s estate (think sports) just 3 days after notifying my supervisor I had a herniated disc in my back (couldn’t lift the full, heavy mop bucket) and needed light duty for a couple of weeks. I was shocked, hurt, and angry over being fired. They offered me a good reference and a month’s salary. I told them I needed time to think. I spoke to an attorney, so that’s how I found that out.
I took that money, thanked God for it, and learned my lesson well. 4 years later after I found out how bad of condition my spine was in, I decided to be proactive. I knew I needed a fusion surgery. So I went through corporate office (worked for Regence BlueShield at the time) arranged short term disability, scheduled my surgery, and THEN on the day my short term disability STARTED I went in like usual, told my supervisor the news, and then went home. Smart decision on my part! It felt good to walk out of there that morning.
The surgery was more difficult thank I ever imagined and it took many months to recover from it. Even so my spine was so bad in so many areas that I’ve never worked since. My short term disability turned into long term disability at 6 months. Even though it started at age 50, I get it until I’m 65, as long as I remain disabled. Over the 15 year period that money will be over $89,000 in addition to what I’ve received from Social Security Disability.
I tell this story to educate every reader out there. Any time you get hurt and can’t work for more than 3 days – for any reason not just an on-the-job injury – apply for your short term disability if you have a benefits package. You never know how long you may be injured for. Protect yourself!
Also, check to find out if you work under similar “At will” employment laws in your state.

  31. Barbara W

Dang, these darn players always stop working unless they’re the video type player that’s not available on THIS episode. It stops repetitively, and I can deal with THAT, NO matter how frustrating. But when it won’t let me play the last 10 minutes of the episode,I feel the need to get on here and vent!
I know its not your fault Wes, and more than likely it’s beyond your control. I love this show, your skills as a listener and interviewer, and just what a nice gentleman you are. I get the feeling you’re a big teddy bear that could go full on Sasquatch if you needed to. And I can see how those skills would make you a great security guard or bouncer.
Thank you for doing this show. I’m such a fan I’ll never stop listening as long as you keep putting it out. No matter what glitches the player is having!
    Much love and respect,
    Barb

OMG Gigantapishytalk, based on a small portion of a jawbone in China ohhhhkay, so sick of listening to bone heads who still believe that this beings an ape, it’s laughable. Even the most intelligent animal would be captured and on a slab.
    Wake up.
